Medical Transcription (MT) is considered as an allied health profession. It deals with the process of converting voice-recorded audios into text formats.
I cannot give you the exact history of medical transcription as my knowledge about that is limited. I have been in this profession for more than 10 years now, but still I can say that everyday, I learn new things, new medical term, new procedure, no diagnosis; which makes this profession still interesting to me even after 10 long years.
I started in 2010, during that time, MT is not yet that popular. I just graduated from college and is actively looking for work and I have been ignoring the ad about the position of MT, mainly because I have no idea what MT is and the ad says "willing to be trained for 6 months", and I have this notion that I will not get any salary during the six months training, so I never really paid much attention to the ad.
When I finally got exhausted from applying from one job to another, I sent an application to this medical transcription company, after a week, I got a call, and the rest is history.....
